I have often been asked what is forum backlink and how to create the best ones. If you also have the same question in your mind, then you’re on the right page!

I will cover all these questions in this article and will assure that you learn something new. I will also provide the list of Do-Follow Forum Backlinks in this article.

In simple terms, a Forum Backlink means getting a link from a Forum. We build different types of backlinks to rank our sites for the target keywords. Forum link building is another technique you can include in your link-building campaign.

I have seen few websites using do follow high authority forum links to rank low competition keywords. So yes, it works, but you need to know where and how to build those links.

What Are Forum Links

Forum links are the backlinks you get from Forum sites. It comes in many forms, including a link in a user’s signature, a Forum post, or a profile page.

Depending on the link placement, backlinks from forums can be nofollow or dofollow. Form Backlinks help you get referral traffic, and the best thing is that you can create these links for free.

What Is Forum Submission?

Forum submission means building a rapport and connecting with a number of visitors with your expertise and knowledge to answer their questions.

It helps to share your knowledge, aiding in generating useful backlinks. You should always choose a relevant forum that matches your blog niche. Once you are done offering a solution to the user’s specific problem, you can put your website link at the end.

This will help visitors know that they can visit your blog if they require more information about the problem they are facing.

Are Forum Links Good for SEO?

The answer is no!

Getting backlinks from forums to increase the authority of your site is an illicit practice.

Here are a few reasons why you should avoid this!

  • By doing this, you’re violating Google’s Link scheme guidelines. If you overdo it you can be penalized for this, and you can even lose all your traffic overnight. Google has strict Webmaster guidelines, which can remove a website permanently from the Google index if a web page is involved in such spammy stuff.
  • Google’s algorithm can recognize the forum profile links. Forum profile backlinks are user-generated content links, and Google’s algorithm can scan your web page automatically for spammy forum links causing a bad reputation for your website.
  • The Penguin algorithm was introduced by Google in April 2012 to reduce spammy backlinks. This had a great impact on the link-building process. Spammy backlinks were quite common before the Penguin algorithm, and the substandard sites ranked higher using them. It is also worth noting down that users can manipulate forum backlinks to build their SEO reputation. But after introducing the Penguin algorithm, the spammy backlinks can be easily caught, so you should avoid the forum profile links.
  • Dropping links in forums won’t help you rank better. The backlinks quantity holds very less significance to the search algorithm of Google. What really matters is the quality of the links. Having a good-quality link from a trustworthy source is much better than having tons of poor-quality links.

If you still would like to build forum links, then I have given the list of dofollow forum backlinks below…

How Can You Determine if a Forum Is Do-Follow?

One of the most popular ways to know if a forum is do-follow is by going through the HTML code. In the comments section’s HTML code, see if the links contain the nofollow attribute or do follow attribute:

<a href=’mylink.html’ rel=’ nofollow’>My Name</a>

Or

<a href=’mylink.html’ rel=’external nofollow’>My Name</a>

You’ll see in the above link that it begins with ‘<a ‘and ends with ‘</a>.’

Now, look within the link to check if it has rel=’external  nofollow’ or rel=‘nofollow.’ If any of these appear, the forum is nofollow; otherwise, it is dofollow. (rel=’external’ means do follow, external means new tab when the link is clicked).

You can also use NoFollow chrome extension, which will highlight any nofollow links on the page.
